Overview of Team Racing

Team Racing

University of Strathclyde Sailing Club welcomes university sailors interested in learning about the thrilling world of sailing team racing. This exciting format, popular in the UK at university level, follows the rules of the British Universities Sailing Association (BUSA). Team racing involves two teams of three boats each, competing against each other using tactics and strategy to outmaneuver their opponents.

In a typical race, each team aims to get their combined finishing positions as low as possible. Boats from opposing teams engage in intense duels, employing clever tactics such as blocking, slowing down, or forcing penalties on their opponents. With tight mark roundings and rapid changes in position, teamwork, communication, and adaptability are essential for success in this fast-paced and dynamic sailing discipline. Join us at University of Strathclyde Sailing Club and experience the thrill of university team racing first-hand!
